Whittington
The nearest village to the sites is Whittington with 2 pub restaurants: The White Lion and Ye Old Boote Inn (as well as Whittington chippy for some classic British). All serve top notch food, but make sure to book for Ye Old Boote Inn as it is very popular!
The village shop has everything you need to stock up including a post office.
Whittington Castle is situated in the centre of the village and regularly holds historic reenactments.
Oswestry is the nearest large town to the sites and has 3 (or more) large supermarkets.
However, if you avoid the large ones, Oswestry has a host of independent shops including the award winning bookshop and cafe, Booka. Independent cinema Kino Kulture has the regular hollywood stuff as well as art house and classical films so it is always worth checking out what is going on!
Oswestry is packed with places to eat including The Townhouse which offers afternoon tea, a very trendy bar and a good menu. Also, check out Sebastian's which is high end but worth it.
Liar Liar is an independent coffee shop which has the expected bare wood and metal interior design but offers a fantastic vegan menu provided by Fat Rabbit.
There is also a market hall which hosts markets on Wednesday and Friday in keeping with Oswestry’s history as an important border market town.

There is a pub restaurant nearby called the Jack Mytton which sits on the side of the local canal.
You can walk along the canal which offers some stunning views of the British countryside.
What really makes Hindford special is the ample walks and freedom to feel like you are in your own special retreat, away from the hustle and bustle of city living!

The famous Chirk Castle is only 10 miles outside of Oswestry and makes for a fantastic day out with the kids.
Also, Ellesmere is just a 20 minute drive from Whittington and has lovely dog friendly walks around the meres and rowing boats for hire. There is also a wildlife centre with hides where you can see lots of ducks and geese wandering around!
